GW Womens Basketball takes on George Mason on Senior Day
By: Harry Falber
It’s Senior Day for the George Washington Colonials Women’s basketball team. Even with the loss of Jonquel Jones, the programs most successful player, the four seniors that will be honored before the game are four of the most valuable members on the team.
The seniors that will be honored are Caira Washington, Hannah Schaible, Lexi Martins and Shannon Cranshaw will be the honored seniors. Martins, Washington, and Schaible are the three leading scorers for the Colonials.
As for the game, the Colonials face George Mason in the final home game of the year and the second to last game before the start of the post season.
George Mason comes in with a record of 13-14 and 6-8 in the A-10. The leading scorer for the Patriots is guard Kara Wright. Wright leads the team in almost every other category as well, including rebounds, assists, three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
However, unless Wright goes off for a monster game, I can’t see the Colonials losing. Caira Washington is coming off of one of her worst games of the season last time out against St. Bonaventure. I see Washington having a big game in her Smith Center finale.
Prediction: Colonials 65 Patriots 48
