In a thrilling game against the St. Louis Billikens, the George Washington Colonials prevailed 63-55. The Billikens started the game on fire, they did not miss a shot for the first 8 minutes of the game and opened up a 21-8 lead over the Colonials early on. GW fought back slowly but surely and was able to cut the deficit to 6 at halftime and trailed 29-23 at the break.
GW started to gain their footing in the second half and were able to claw back into the game. Led by Tyler Cavanaugh and Patrick Steeves, the Colonials were able to take back the lead late in the second half. Clutch plays by Jaren Sina and Steeves sealed the victory for the Colonials who took advantage of St. Louis’ inability to execute down the stretch.
The Colonials were led by Tyler Cavanaugh who scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and went a perfect 8/8 from the free throw line. St. Louis was led by Elliot Welmer who contributed 18 points including 4 three pointers for the Billikens. The Colonials have now won 3 games in a row and look to extend that streak to 4 games on January 31st against University of Rhode Island.
