Women fall to St. Louis, 67-59

Despite Lexi Martins continuing to dominate during conference play, GW took a loss on the road to St. Louis Thursday, 67-59. Martins had 22 points to go along with 8 rebounds, but she would be the only player to score more than 10 points for the Colonials. Freshman Kendall Bresee put up another impressive performance, totaling 8 points along with 11 boards, while Briana Cummings contributed 9 points as well.
The Billikens rode the hot hand, as Jackie Kempf finished with a game-high 24 points on 7-12 shooting plus 8-13 at the free throw line, with Jordyn Frantz contributing 14 points off 3 three-pointers. The Billikens used the charity stripe to their advantage, scoring 15-20 from the line compared to GW’s 8-10. That 7-point spread in essence ended up being the difference in this one.
The Colonials shot just 22% from deep, and despite Shannon Cranshaw entering the game at 4th best in the A-10 in terms of 3-point %, sophomore Kelsi Mahoney ended up taking the majority of the shots from deep for GW. She finished at 2-8 from downtown.
Both teams sit at 6-2 in conference play now, with GW falling to 13-7 overall. The Colonials will return home to host Duquesne on Sunday, and you can listen to the action right here on WRGW Sports.
