GW Women travel to take on St. Louis

The GW Women’s basketball team looks to stay red-hot and gain their 4th straight victory as they travel west to take on the St. Louis Billikens. The Colonials (13-6, 6-1 A-10) come off a double overtime come-from-behind victory over UMass Sunday, in which the Colonials stifled the Minutewomen into an astounding 0-16 shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes of game time. Leading the way was Lexi Martins, scoring a season high 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds, contributing to her 6th straight double-double.
The Billikens (15-5, 5-2) come in with quite the momentum themselves, winning 8 of their last 10 games. They’re coming off a 68-50 road win over URI, led by Jackie Kemph’s 12 points and Sadie Stipanovich’s 10. The two guards carry the SLU offense, both averaging over 13 ppg this season.
Both teams battle the boards well, with GW gaining the edge by about 2 rebounds per game. Another key battle will be behind the arc, where two of the top 5 3 point shooters in the A-10, Shannon Cranshaw of GW (39.5%) and Jordyn Frantz of SLU (39.8%), could provide a spark from deep in this game.
Overall, I like GW’s ability to create inside with Lexi Martins, and expect another big game from her. That should be the difference maker for GW, as they win it on the road 71-65.
