Tonight at 7:00 PM ET, the George Washington Colonials (8-4) will play the University of Miami Hurricanes (8-2) in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Colonials are currently on a 3 game winning streak, having recently beaten the University of Central Florida at home, 74-59. Sophomore guard Jordan Roland had a career night as he racked up 27 points on 9/13 shooting 5/9 from 3. Senior forward Tyler Cavanaugh continues to impress this season as he dropped 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Hurricanes are seeking their 5th straight win after a 76-56 victory over Florida Atlantic University at home. In the win, Senior guard Davon Reed led all scorers with 21 points and a pair of blocks. Freshman guard Bruce Brown impressed as well with 14, 6 assists, and 2 steals.
GW’s range has been key in this win streak, with the team shooting 46% from 3 in the last 3 games. Miami has been stellar defensively, holding opponents to only 55 points per game in their last 4 outings, while they’ve averaged just a touch over 76 points.
With a defensive showdown at hand in Coral Gables, this game will no doubt be difficult for the Colonials, but if their hot long distance shooting continues, they should be able to down the Hurricanes 65-62.
