GW WBB falls to American 66-61

The George Washington Colonials (7-3) dropped one against their crosstown rivals, the American University Eagles (3-5) 66-61 in overtime.
Despite the loss, there were certainly some standout performances on the Colonials’s roster. Senior Guard Hannah Schaible shot 9-16 from the field and ended with 19 points to go with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Forward Caira Washington continued her hot shooting with 11 points on 5-6 shooting to go with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
The Colonials suffered from inefficiency at the free throw line, going 6-14 overall, while the Eagles shot 11-13.
Though the Colonials out-rebounded AU 34-26, the Eagles put up a balanced scoring effort, with 5 players putting up at least 10 points. Elina Koskimies had the clutch basket of the night with a corner 3 pointer with around 15 seconds left in OT. Koskimies shot 3-4 overall, all 3 pointers.
Next up, the Colonials are on the road as they travel to South Dakota to challenge the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits (7-1).
