GW WBB Beats Illinois 72-56

The GW Women’s Colonials dominated this game from start to finish and it wasn’t even close. GW beat the Illinois Fighting Ilini 72-56 from the Smith Center Sunday afternoon.

Three different Colonials (Washington, Schaible, Cummings) scored in double figures. The Colonials were also a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line.

MVP of the Game:

While there are so many people this can go to, we’re going to give this one to Hannah Schaible. Schaible was all over the court for the Colonials finishing with a team high 14 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. When Caira Washington wasn’t playing that well in the first half, it was Schaible picking up the slack.

Difference of the Game

GW outrebounded Illinois 48-25. GW had 17 offensive rebounds as well. The rebounding was a huge difference maker in this game. Caira Washington led the Colonials with 9 boards.

A look ahead

The next GW Women’s game will be Wednesday night at American. With this win, the Colonials move to 7-2.
