GW Women’s Basketball vs Villanova Preview
By: Jack Linnehan
The George Washington Colonials are in Villanova, Pennsylvania to take on the Villanova Wildcats today. The Colonials enter at 2-1 and are fresh off a dominating 77-46 victory over Coppin State last Wednesday, while the Wildcats come in at 1-1 off a victory over Purdue.
For the Wildcats, they are led by guards Adrianna Hahn and Alex Louin, averaging 14.5 and 11 points per game respectively. The Wildcats don’t turn the ball over much, something the Colonials have struggled with, but struggle on the boards, averaging a -9.5 rebound differential. Villanova will need to see more from their bigs, led by Jannah Tucker and Megan Quinn (8.5 and 7 ppg respectively). Look for Hahn to be a big factor from deep, where she’s shooting 5/6 on the season.
For the Colonials, look for another strong performance from Caira Washington (13.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg), as well as Lexi Martins off the bench (7 ppg and 7 rpg). The Colonials average a 5.7 rebound differential and on paper out-rebound the Wildcats by 17.5. If GW can clean up on the glass, that could be the difference maker. I envision a close game, but a road victory for the Colonials.
