The Colonials have been in free fall the past six weeks and will look to get back on track tonight in what is essentially a must-win home game against St. Bonaventure. Both teams come in with conference records of 7-7 and are tied for seventh in the Atlantic 10, meaning tonight’s matchup has huge seeding implications for the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Brooklyn in two weeks.
GW is coming off a 56-48 loss at Richmond on Saturday, a game in which the Colonials’ offensive struggles crept to the surface yet again in a very winnable game. GW shot 39 percent as a team, led by Kethan Savage with 18 points and Kevin Larsen with 16. However, when two players combine for just a shade under 75 percent of the team’s total points, you know you’re going to have a tough time winning games. The Colonials must get better contributions from Patricio Garino and Joe McDonald if they want to have any chance of righting the ship against the Bonnies tonight.
The Colonials will also look to get back on the winning track at home. They have dropped their past two contests at the Smith Center after winning their previous 12 and 25 of 26 on their home floor. Meanwhile, the Bonnies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 70-60 overtime win at Saint Joseph’s on Saturday and will look to maintain their momentum in the District tonight.
WRGW’s coverage begins at 6:50 with tip off scheduled for 7 pm on gwradio.com.
