Atlantic 10 Conference play begins today as the red hot George Washington Colonials make the trip up to Philly to face off with defending A10 Tournament champion St. Joe’s, a game that will be carried live nationally on CBS Sports Network.
The Colonials have won four in a row and seven of their last eight as they begin conference play today, led by the play of the resurgent Kevin Larsen, averaging 11 points and seven rebounds a contest. Patricio Garino had a fantastic non-conference season as well, with 13.5 points per game, and will look to continue that play in A10 action.
Saint Joseph’s was picked eighth in the A10 preseason poll and is fresh off an overtime loss at Denver five days ago. The Hawks are led by 6’6″ forward DeAndre’ Bembry, a preseason Atlantic 10 First Team Selection leading St. Joe’s in almost every category with 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Garino should have his hands full with the versatile forward, but if he can shut Bembry down, GW should roll.
WRGW’s coverage begins at 1:45 with tip off scheduled for 2 pm on gwradio.com.
