GW has not played their best basketball over the past three games or so, but nonetheless, the Colonials have won two straight and will look to keep the streak going as they welcome Big East opponent DePaul to the Smith Center on Thursday night.
Patricio Garino has carried the Colonials the last two games, averaging 22 points per game on 63 percent shooting during that span. Kethan Savage also continues to be a solid contributor, reaching double-figures in scoring in six of the Colonials’ seven games this season.
However, Kevin Larsen has continued to struggle. While he has averaged nearly 11 points a game over the last four but that is well below what he is capable of and the goals he set for himself at the start of the season. DePaul will represent another test for the junior center. In three games against major conference teams this season, he has scored a mere 12 points combined.
GW will have their hands full tonight against a streaking DePaul team led by forward Myke Henry and center Tommy Hamilton. The Blue Demons picked up a signature win two weeks ago when they picked up a big home win against Stanford. However, it remains to be seen whether DePaul can continue to play at a high level away from home, as tonight amazingly marks the Blue Demons’ first road game of the season.
Tonight’s game is the fifth all-time meeting between GW and DePaul, and the first since the 1998 BB&T Classic, a game won by DePaul 87-79. The two programs have split the previous four meetings. WRGW’s coverage begins at 6:50 with tip off scheuled for 7 pm on gwradio.com.
